A/.16 for a 50cc Moped, 17 for a 125cc.
Q/.Can I ride on 'L' plates without a CBT?
A/.No.
Q/.What does the CBT cover?
A/.The certificate states that you have completed your Compulsory Basic Training, and are therefore legally allowed to ride a Bike on 'L' plates on the roads (age 16 for moped, 17 for 125cc), providing that you have a valid licence permitting it.
Q/.How long does a CBT last?
A/.Currently 2 years.
Q/.Can I carry passengers with just a CBT?
A/.No-Until you have passed your Full licence Motorcycle Practical Test you may not carry any passengers whatsoever.
Q/.Is the CBT Bike specific - esp with Auto / Man?
A/.The Compulsory Basic Training certificate is neither Bike nor Automatic / Manual specific. The CBT covers you as a learner rider up to a maximum bike size of 125cc either manual or automatic.
Q/.What is the Instructor / Pupil training ratio?
A/.Usually 2 students per instructor and never any more than demanded within DSA legal limits.

A/.SR 125s mainly, with some 50cc Manual & Automatic Mopeds available as well, for direct access training we usually use ER500's

Q/.Do I need to bring my licence with me?
A/.You must always carry your licence for any training or testing sessions. This is the law and not a matter we can "take a view" on.
Remember that the Licence consists of 2 parts - the hard plastic 'Credit Card' portion AND the green paper counterpart.
One is not legal without the other - you MUST HAVE BOTH parts when coming for training and testing. We can no longer accept D441 as licence substitute and it is worth noting that if you have only an old style paper licence, you must also have a current UK passport to be able to attend theory or practical test.

A/.We train 7 days a week, usually starting with CBT at the week-end and full courses progressing throughout the week.

A/.The legal maximum for DAS training is 2:1..
Q/.What Bikes can I ride after I pass?
A/.Anything.
Theory Test
All learners have to take a theory test for every category on their licence they wish to pass. So although you may have a full driving Licence for a Car, you will still need to pass a Motorcycle theory test to gain category 'A' on your licence.
The theory test now consists of a question 'paper' of 35 questions, of which at least 30 must be correct, and a Hazard Perception Test of 14 clips showing 15 'Developing Hazards' scored on a basis of 5 to 1 points, depending how soon the hazard is perceived. A minimum score of 44points is required in the Hazard Perception Test.
Q/.I have a full Car Licence, do I need a Theory Test?
A/.Yes - each category on your licence now requires you to complete its own specific Theory Test before taking the practical test for that category.

A/.Your training with us can include the theory test if you wish or of course you can organise and sit your own theory test in advance of your practical training.
Q/.Can I organise my own Theory Test?
